APRIL 12TH 2008

Kells 3 - 2 Walton Wolves

Kellingley knew that this was going to be a tough match,as to their last encounter, which was the first game of the season and Kellingley walked away 3 -0 winner's. Kellingley took thirty minutes to get into this game, but Walton struck first blood after twenty minutes. Walton could have been a couple more up, if it hadnt been for Kellingley goal keeper Luke Beecher. Kellingley's midfield soon got to grips with Dane Smillie, Josh Beecher, Michael White and Nigel Shaw doing some excellent one two football between each other, Which helped to set up the two strikers of Jonny Nicklin and Reece Chappell, but they couldn't convert, which put Dane Smillie through doing some excellent twisting and dribbling with the ball and finishing his solo stint with an excellent goal. This game stayed scrappy for the rest of that half. In the second half Kellingley we're slow to start, letting Walton Wolves getting to grips with the game first and making it 1-2. But Kellingley's defence of Jamie Kershaw, Ryan Beevers, Ryan Stocks and William Johnson got their act together, which allowed Kellingley to get their game back on a winning way, from some good play from midfield sending Nicklin down the left side of the pitch and putting a superb cross in for Reece Chappell to make it 2-2. Walton Wolves didn't give up, but the defence and goalie of Kellingley kept a tight ship. With 5 minutes to go Kellingley got a free kick, Kershaw took the kick and Reece Chappell beat the off side trap to head the ball down for Josh Beecher to get the winning goal.Man of the match Dane Smillie and Nigel Shaw.

 

MARCH 2ND 2008

Kippax Athletic 1 - 12 Kells

Kellingley were slow to start, Kippax were very strong for the first 20 minutes and then Kellingley got into its stride, with midfielder Jonathan Nicklin opening the scoring, but Kippax still stayed strong.But with Kellingley defence + goalie, Ryan Beevers, Jamie Kershaw,Josh Beecher, William Johnson and Luke Beecher staying strong, this then let midfield do their job, of Michael White, Louis Martin, Jonathan Nicklin and Nigel Shaw, which then set alight the two strikers, with James Metcalfe scoring his hat-trick within 10 minutes with Kippax getting the last word in the first half  1-4. In the second half  with subs of Dane Smillie and Richard Reynolds. Kellingley grew even stronger with striker Reece Chappell scoring his hat-trick. With some excellent work from midfield and defence. Kellingley kept the pressure on, from some more good team work, Kellingley then went 11 up with another four goals from chappell, Martin and Metcalfe x 2. Kellingley had the last word with Richard Reynolds scoring his first goal for the club. Man of the match  Team Effort.

 

FEBRUARY 3RD 2008

Kells 8 - 2 Normanton


Kellingley went into the quarter final of the invitation cup knowing that a win would only do, Kellingley were strong throughout the game and within the first ten minutes James Metcalfe scored  with some excellent work form midfield, Michael White, Nigel Shaw, Jonny Nicklin and Josh Beecher. Kellingley kept the pressure on, setting Nicklin to make the score 2-0. With the defence staying strong of Ryan Beevers, Jamie Kershaw, Ryan stocks, William Johnson and goalie Luke Beecher, Kellingley kept control of the game, with some good football from strikers Metcalfe and Reece Chappell setting  Nicklin up for his second.Kellingley got a corner, with a good cross in from Kershaw. Kellingley were on for their forth. When an athletic player hand balled the ball from going in the net. Which resulted in Kellingley getting a penalty, which was not converted,but this did not stop the Kells from getting back into the game.When Metcalfe got his second. But Athletic managed to break through our defence and score making it 4-1. But Kellingley responded to this very quickly, and Metcalfe getting his hat-trick. In the second half with subs of Robert Jones, Louis Martin and Dane Smillie Kellingley kept the pressure on in which Nicklin got his hat-trick. Kellingley kept moving forward in the apposing half which eventually led to sub Jones getting on the score sheet. Normanton with 5 minutes to go managed to break through the defence again  to score leaving goalie Beecher to make a great save and one of Athletic players followed in to make it 7-2. But Kellingley had the last word and Nicklin scoring his forth. Man of the Match was shared TEAM EFFORT.

 

JANUARY 13TH 2008

Kippax 1 - 5 Kells

Kellingley were away in the preliminary round of the league cup to Kippax, knowing that Kellingley had given Kippax a big thumping the week before, Kellingley went into this one with no goalkeeper, but striker Reece Chappell stood in for Kellingley as keeper. Kellingley played an unusual formation, which they don't usually play,which was a 4-5-1.

With the defence of Robert Jones, Ryan Beevers, Ryan Stocks and William Johnson keeping a very tight back line and with some excellent work from keeper Chappell. It took Kellingley 35 minutes to break down Kippax with some excellent play from striker James Metcalfe to set mid-fielder Jonathan Nicklin up. In the second half with mid-field of Nigel Shaw, Jamie Kershaw, Michael White,Louis Martin and Nicklin they took it in turns to help striker Metcalfe  to net 2 goals within 10 minutes of the second half, Kellingley started to play some excellent 1-2 touch football which kept the pressure on Kippax. Kershaw was set up with some excellent work from mid-field and striker to make it 0-4. Kellingley didn't stop at that. Taking the game to Kippax all the time Kellingleys 5th goal came from a wonderful corner from Kershaw, headed down by Nicklin for Martin to finish. With 3 minutes to go Kellingley let their guard down and letting Kippax get one. Man of the match was an excellent team effort with all giving 110%. 

 

JANUARY 6TH 2008

Kells 11 - 2 Kippax

Kellingley got the new year of to a good start, the defence and goalie of Kellingley, Dane Smillie, Ryan Beevers, Jamie Kershaw, William Johnson and captain Josh Beecher all had an excellent game and were of the mark in minutes. When James Metcalfe opened the scoring, with midfielder Jonathan Nicklin getting the second within the space of 10 minutes. Kippax got one back with an accidental mistake when goalie Smillie kicked the ball straight into one of our defenders, which allowed Kippax to get back into the game, but Kellingley responded asap to the challenge, With Metcalfe getting his second. Kellingley soon made it 4-1 with an excellent corner from Kershaw and Nicklin converting with a volley, but Kippax did not give up and managed to get a second. Kellingleys midfield of Michael White, Louis Martin, Nigel Shaw and Nicklin kept midfield very tight which then allowed Reece Chappell and Metcalfe to get on with scoring. Metcalfe got the third goal of his first hat-trick.with substitutes of Shaun Pepper and Luke Beecher Kellingley finished the first half with a hat-trick from Nicklin. In the second half it was all one way with Metcalfe netting 3 within the first 15 minutes of the second half and with subs of Richard Reynolds, Ryan Stocks and Robert Jones Kellingley still stayed strong. Kellingleys 10th goal was a 25 yard strike by Martin into the top corner of the net, but Kellingley had not finished, with captain J. Beecher making it 11. Man of the match , team effort.
